Ferrari – Champion of Champions

Ferrari, the sports car manufacturing giant was established by Enzo Ferrari in 1928 as Scuderia Ferrari. After 1947 the company entered into making road cars. Before this the company used to sponsor amateur drivers and used to produce racing cars. The company had its production unit originally in Modena. In 1943 Ferrari moved to Maranello. The factory was being bombed by the Allies in 1944 because it was the time of World War II.

Later on the company revived from the bombings of the war in 1946 and started making road cars. Ferrari, with its rebuilt manufacturing unit in Maranello, Italy started making 125 S road cars in 1947. It quickly earned reputation of excellence in the market. But Enzo Ferrari was financially uncomfortable building this model. Consequently, he had to sell his automobiles to fund the project.

Luigi Chinetti was the first man of Ferrari to win in motorsports in 1949. This was also the first win of Ferrari in motorsports. Luigi won the event by driving the 166M model. With the World Sportscar Championship created in 1953. Ferrari dominated the events with seven out of nine wins as a Lead Sportscar Manufacturer. Ferrrari used to win championships almost every year. In 1972 Enzo decided to concentrate on Formula One car manufacturing.

Jose Frolian Gonzalez was the first man to give a victory in 1951 in British Grand Prix. Alberto Ascari was the first driver of Ferrari to win the driver’s championship. Ferrari has a long list of World Driver’s Championship Title. The number is fifteen times. It has also a long list of renowned drivers who has been a part of Ferrari’s success. The list would include Michael Schumaker, who created a world record in winning most championships. Some of the fine and high class road cars that this company makes are Ferrari 550 and 575, Ferrari 360 and F430, Ferrari Testarossa, 365 California, 400Superamerica etc.
