BMW: The Car that Survived Second World War!

BMW was established by a German, Rapp Motoren Werke, in 1913 in the outer regions of Munich. Surprisingly, the original business produced aero plane engines. It was only when Rapp Motoren Werke formed Bavarian Motor Works that the business started producing cars.

The year 1928 witnessed the production of the first BMW car. However, Dixi, as this first model produced in the factory at Munich was known could run maximum at the speed of 50mph only. Since then, the cars from this make have come a long way. They are considered as among quite fast cars nowadays.

However, even the 50mph Dixi produced at that time was a big hit. Highly encouraged by the response in the market, BMW launched a new version of the car in 1932. The factory at Munich almost became synonymous with being a production house for Dixies!

But sadly, the great car manufacturer fell upon hard times after World War II. Not only all the factories run under the famous name were destroyed, BMW was banned to produce its products for 3 years! And that was not all. Germany went through recession after the war was over. As a result, the first car (produced in 1951) after the war could not sell more than 500 in number.

But the name BMW overcame the problems rather than letting the latter overcome them!. BMW1 series are known to be among the best cars in the market. Further, the Z4 roadster is known for being among the best of the contract hire cars in the United Kingdom. And any one can spot X3 by the great name running almost everywhere on the roads of London.

BMW seems to be everywhere. It is the car that has survived even the World War II!
